If you suffer from herniated or degenerated discs, sciatica, spinal stenosis, failed surgery, facet syndrome or spondylosis, Spinal Decompression Therapy may be just what you’ve been looking for. Spinal Decompression is a non-surgical, taction based treatment outcome for herniated or bulging discs in the neck and low back.

For minor compression problems this system might work in combination with doing the exercises and keeping hydrated. If you have real disc problems, this system probably would not help much.

see my family doctor? I have been seen by 6 doctors, two specialists including a nero sugeon, a physician’s assistant and a physical therapist. i’ve had shots, pills and physical therapy.
my cousin is a doctor and she says i will have problems the rest of my life. my inversion table helps a bit so i guess i will stick with that. believe it or not, staying hydrated seems to give some relief as well. So I drink water and hang upside down in my inversion table!!! LOL

Also, when I exercise I have no pain as long as I take it easy. However, after about 3 weeks of exercising my injury then begins to hurt! Just when I begin to get into shape, it hurts. I found something on the web that says when you exercise, your spinal cord fills with blood and swells, I think my stenosis cause my spine to rub and aggrivates it over time. So I stop exercising. This has been going on for 4 years.

What is traction generally used for? I went to physical therapy and the therapist simply laid me on a table and pulled on my head slightly and called it traction. What is traction supposed to do? Yes, I have a copression fracture to my T8, bulging disk and slight stenosis all in the same area. I think I have arthritis there as well since the weather affects it. Traction makes some sense to me but I don’t want to make it worse either.

my fletcher: If you have an issue with a disc such as you have described, you might well not get near one of these traction devices. It is one thing to attempt to do a chin-up where you can always let go in the event that you feel pain. However, when you are not in the same degree of control, you may very well make it worse. As I say, these devices are glorified traction devices, and there is no conclusive evidence that they are of any benefit. Ask your family gp.

Thanks for the info. I currently use an “inversion table” which is guess is the same as traction and it gives me some temporary relief. Hanging from a door frame (like I was going to do a chin-up) also gives instant but temporary relief. I have a compression fracture to my T8, and a bulging disk. doctors won’t operate because I am not in enough pain. I am willing to give anything a try if my insurance will cover it.

This is nothing different than traction therapy and this has been shown to be relatively ineffective in treating low back pain. The evidence for this is in the peer-reviewed nealth science literature that PROFESSIONALS should be using to educate patients instead of trying to take their money!

I was thinking of trying it. Why don’t you think it works?

There is NO CREDIBLE EVIDENCE FOR THESE CLAIMS. Why is that? Because it is hogwash!
