I have openned my business in a day spa. People are calling in all day to book appts and I have the chance to be at the front desk so I can talk to people about the fact that there is a chiropractic office now in the place. I don’t know how to approach the phone people.

I wouldn’t approach them by phone. I would make up some fliers, mailers and mail them out to the clientle and hand the clients a flier as they walk in the door. A good idea is to offer a discount or free evaluation with the mailer/flier. But I definately would not approach on phone that could drive business away from others in the day spa.

As warm and friendly as possible. When the business they initially called for is handled, ask them , “Did you know we now have chiropractic services available? ( They will probably say no, but it doesn’t really matter) “Yes, well you’re speaking with the chiropractor now.” Then be very conversational….you need to sell yourself. If they like you they will refer you to friends if they currently do not need these services. The most important thing is to be approachable and warm. A year and a half ago I started to practice as a PA-C in a doctor’s office. Just being warm and friendly (and willing to listen to patients) established a good patient clientele for me…..even more than the fact that I am a good practitioner.

I wouldn’t. Someone using spa services may not be looking for chiropractic. So unless they ask, don’t try to upsell.
That said, I suggest distributing some ads in the mail at some seniors centers, or other boomer hangouts. They need chiropractic services, and may enjoy the spa atmosphere.
But again, upselling over the phone, or in person can just get annoying. If they ask about services then tell them, otherwise it may come off as rude.
