To quote well the well known critic of chiropratic, Samuel Homola, D.C., author and chiropractor, “Popping, like cracking of the knuckles, simply reflects the sudden separation of joint surfaces held in close contact by fluidic contact in a vacuum, it has nothing to do with a bone being ‘put back in place’. So is any adjustment being made at all when you have your ‘subluxations’ ‘cracked’ and popped’ ?

It does not hurt you at all! It is good for you and can cause you to live longer! Stress kills and certainly this relieves stress. And, yes, there’s good reason to go to a chiropractor! They X-ray you and know the “proper” way to adjust your bones for maximum relief!

Your right it does reabsorb, but the cracking sound is actually an event called Cavitation when synovial gases are released. This occurs in the “Paraphysiological zone”…a very small range…after that, you tear ligaments. THATS IS WHY YOU NEVER “CRACK” YOUR OWN NECK. When joints are injured and heal wrong they get stuck. Joints around the injury are unstable..these are the joints that “crack”? when you twist your neck. Chiropractors are experts at ADJUSTING the spine so joints heal correctly

what does releasing gas do for a person, I can do that at home, why should I pay someone to crack my back the same way I do it at home. And why do they call it an adjustment, and adjustment means a change. The joint can be popped again in an hour or so, that’s no adjustment. People don’t call it cracking because they think your breaking bones, they call it that because it makes a cracking sound, but calling it an adjustment makes no sense to me.

what does releasing gas from a joint, something I can do at home, do for a person?

So if that’s all that’s happening, why do they do it and call it an adjustment? They’re just opening the joint and releasing gas. 30 minutes to an hour later they can do it again, why pay to have it done?

I read that, and I checked for myself. I strongly suspect you have no idea what you’re talking about. According to several MEDICAL research, ‘When the two articulating surfaces of a synovial joint are separated from one other’, the resulting cavitation fills with dissolved GAS from the synovial fluid, specifically nitrogen and carbon dioxide. I’m no expert, but even I can read the research. Sounds like it’s you talking out of your ass.

one thing I do like about chyros is that they won’t just prescribe a bunch of drugs to me like most md doctors. MD doctors look more legit than chiros because the pharmaceutical industry backs MDs but not chiros. its all business any way you look at it, but drugs destroy people.

Seriously, if that’s what you learned in Chiropractor’s School, go get your money back and return your diploma. Go for some formal training in medical school, then you’ll be credible.

The cracking sound is due to he creation of negative pressure within the inter-articular gap as it is being pried open forceflly through manipulation.

Normally, there is NO GAS in the joint. None! It would be found only if you had an infection by gas-producing organisms, but those are EXTREMELY rare.
